Transportation and/or Utility Route Survey
Route surveys are similar to topographic surveys in that they usually involve determining elevations for a specific area to produce a 3-D map or terrain model. The difference is that a route survey is usually for a specific purpose, such as the installation of a new sanitary sewer line, and generally will follow a specific route or corridor. The area or corridor to be surveyed will usually be provided by the client. Once the area has been identified, the survey will perform a topographic survey to determine existing grade elevations, improvements within the area, utilities, etc. Usually, a property map will also be created, including located property corners, property lines and identifying information such as owner names, lot and block numbers and county parcel Id numbers.
